Star Wars Ewok Valentines Day Candies

Wow first post of 2019 and we're already into February!

Good thing it's a fun one

Some Star Wars treats - Heart Shaped Ewok candies for Valentines Day!

Start with some heart shaped chocolate covered candy. I used peppermint patties but you can use whatever is your fav.  There's so much available in stores right now since all the V-day candies are out and about.

Melt some white chocolate and "paint" it on the top.  It just gives it a nice rustic feeling and allows the characters to stand out more.

Once dry, use assorted color melted candy wafers and add the Ewok details.

I used a photo from google and made them really simple.  Fur color, contrasting hood color, sprinkle for nose, and use a black edible food writer for eyes.

Super simple

AND

Of course I needed to add the Endor Princess Leia since the scene when she meets the Ewok Wicket is one of my favs.

We love Ewoks so much that we named our Chow Chow Wicket!

When she was a puppy the kids thought she looked like a little baby Ewok so they chose her name.

Even grown she still looks like one to me!

Such a pretty pup

Although don't ask me how many times when people ask her name and we say "Wicket" they say "Oh Wicked is she a naughty pup?"

Now I usually say "Her name is Wicket because she looks like a Star Wars Ewok" and that usually works!

You can also add some cutie cute Ewok-ish Valentines Day sayings like:

You Ewok my World!

Our Love will Endor

I Endor You

OK that last one is supposed to be like "I Adore You" BUT for you long time married folk (like me!) perhaps "I Endure You" is actually appropriate Valentine!

Happy February and 2019 to ALL!

Star Wars - The Last Jedi Chewbacca & the Porgs No Bake Cookies

Can we talk about the next Star Wars movie coming out this December?

The Last Jedi opens on December 15th!

And have you seen the newest creature that is debuting? They are called Porgs and seem to be a cross between a puffin and a penguin.  Are they not the cutest?? I mean listen to them squawk:

Well as far as I can tell from the trailers they live on the island that Luke has been hiding out on but in the clip they are hanging with Chewbacca.

Of course I had to make some little porg cookies!

These are no bake and start from Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies.   Use regular sized ones for Chewy and Milano minis for the porgs.

Chewbacca is decorated with melted chocolate, candy coated sunflower seeds for eyes, and vanilla tootsie roll (decorated with brown edible writing pen and tinted vanilla candy melts) for his cross body belt.

Porgs are decorated with vanilla and chocolate candy melts (tint some gray/mustard), black round sprinkles for eyes, and black candy melts for nose and mouth.

These came together pretty quickly especially since no baking is required.

Well are you also pro-porg??!

Only 39 days until we see them on the big screen AND only 49 days until the Christmas holiday - in case you are interested!

Thanks for swinging by and have a great week!

Bunny Ear Star Wars Cookies for Easter

After posting the #12DaysOfStarWars last year as a countdown for the new Star Wars - The Force Awakens movie, I said I'd be taking a Star Wars treat break.  Twelve days of all Star Wars treats was fun but a bit exhausting!  Well, a couple months break was all I could make it before thinking about another fun treat.

With spring and Easter coming very soon I thought Darth Vader could use some bunny ears.  He and his Stormtroopers both could use some bunny ears.  Maybe that would lighten their moods.

In fact I think everyone right now needs bunny years to lighten things up a little.  Wouldn't the next republican or democratic debate be much nicer if the candidates and moderators wore bunny years? I mean if Donald Trump wore bunny ears you definitely would know you shouldn't take him seriously, right??  I'll tweet that suggestion out and see who bites!

But back to the cookies, they are homemade sugar cookies that would make super cute additions to your biggest Star Wars fan's Easter baskets!

Star Wars Gingerbread Christmas Cookies

Christmas is next week!!! And I still have quite a bit of shopping to do - definitely getting our monies worth out of Amazon Prime's 2 Day shipping this year.

I've had so many thoughts and ideas on making holiday and christmas goodies this year alas time is not on my side.  But I did make some time for more gingerbread cookies.  So here is a little mash-up of Star Wars and Christmas for you all.

I bought the William Sonoma Star Wars cookie cutters ages ago when they were on sale and never actually made cookies with them until now.  To save some time I used store bought refrigerated gingerbread cookie dough.  Roll out the dough and stamp out the Yoda, Darth Vader, Stormtrooper and Boba Fett heads.

Use another Santa cookie cutter to cut out Santa hats from the dough and then just attached them to the tops of the character heads.  Bake at 350 for about 8 minutes.

Once cooled, use some Wilton Color Mist (kinda like spray paint for food) to tint the Santa hats red and green.

Then just decorate by filling in the lines/face detail with some melted candy melt (or royal icing could be used too).  Thick royal icing was used for the Santa hat accents topped with some white non-pareils and holly mix sprinkles.

And you have some relatively simple Christmas cookies for your favorite Star Wars groupies.  We happen to have quite a few in this family!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Holidays to you all!

Star Wars Mickey Mashup Cookies/Pops

So you guys know I love a good mashup right? I've already talked about that before like here.  When we went to Disney for the first time this year, I totally bought into the whole Mickey Ear obsession.  I mean it's all about the Mickey (or Minnie) Ears and you can spend a gagillion dollars stocking up on them.  Where else can adults wear mouse ears and actually look pretty cool? Well, relatively cool (they still look much cuter on kids!).  AND they pretty much come in any variety you want, plain, fancy, tiny, pirate, and almost any Disney character in ear form too.

So when we visited last February, we HAD to get some for the kiddos.  That's Buzz Lightyear, a princess (of course), and R2D2 ears!  Long story short, they inspired these Star Wars Mickey Ear cookies.

And the mashup is totally appropriate considering Disney now owns Star Wars.  Still not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing but I'd probably sell too for 4 billion bucks (4 BILLION that's even crazy to type!).  Time will only tell and the new Episode 7 movie slated for 2015 will really make people love the deal or really, really, and I mean really hate it.

Anyway, back on topic!  I cheated with these cookies and started with store bought ones.  Well 1) because I'm starting to get lazy and 2) there are really good cookies out there waiting to be made into other treats.  To make the ears I used a large icing tip and cut a part of 2 round chocolate chip cookies to make the ears (see pic below).  Attach to a whole cookie with some melted chocolate.

Once hardened decorate with candy melt to make the Star Wars characters. Minimalistic characters because it was much faster that way!

You can also add sticks and make them cookie pops (because all food is way more fun in pop form)

And you get some fun cookies to celebrate May the 4th Be With You (aka Star Wars Day).  Which I know passed already (#blogfail) but I think most Star Wars and Mickey fans are fans the other 364 days of the year too, so hope you enjoy them!

I hope you can recognize all the characters! Leave a comment and let me know your fav!!!
