Alice in Wonderland PEEPS Pops

Time to make the PEEPS Pops again!

Over the years I've made a bunch of stuff out of marshmallow PEEPS.  They are one of my fav brands to create with.  My go to edible craft is making pops out the Spring bunny PEEPS.

See more of my PEEPS crafts here!

And another of my favorites is Alice in Wonderland! Hopefully you can recognize some of the characters in PEEPS pop form!

Start with bunny PEEPS and add a popsicle stick to them (secure the stick with a little melted white chocolate)

Then dip them in melted white chocolate chips.

The rest of the detail is done with mostly melted candy melts in an assortment of colors and various types of candy sprinkles.

All the characters are awesome and unique and remind me of my childhood since I watched the cartoon movie (circa 1951!) a lot as a kid.

The Cheshire Cat, Caterpillar, Alice, and the White Rabbit are my absolute favs!

The Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts came out a little wonky - but that's ok they are kinda wonky characters anyway so it fits!

Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum plus a couple Eat Me/Drink Me PEEPS round out the set.

Who's your favorite Alice in Wonderland Character?

Thanks for swinging by and Happy Easter to those who celebrate!

Day 11 Star Wars Peeps Pops #12daysofStarWars

I think you guys probably know my slight obsession with Marshmallow Peeps right? So it probably won't surprise you that they are the canvas for my next treat.

Day 11 of #12daysofStarWars

Star Wars Bunny Peeps Pops!

For these treats I went with my favorite trio of pals that have stood the test of time through all the Star Wars movies! I'm guessing we'll be seeing them in The Force Awakens too.

This is not my first time at the Star Wars Peeps pops show.  Awhile back I did some Troopers too.  I always have fun making them and they always make my kids smile.  (If you search Peeps pops on the blog you'll see all the versions over the years)

OK we are getting close people! Tomorrow night everyone starts seeing the movie at The Force Awakens midnight shows.  Gotta try to avoid all social media and reviews until we see it on the weekend!

Stop back tomorrow for one last new Star Wars treat or follow along on FacebookInstagram and/or Twitter! #12daysofStarWars @sugarswings

How To Make Star Wars Peeps Pops

Ingredients:
  • Marshmallow Bunny Peeps
  • 2 cups of vanilla chocolate chips or white candy melts
  • pop sticks
  • Wilton color mist in Pearl and Gold
  • Candy melts (melting wafers) in brown, blue, black, white
  • Candy/sprinkles red circle for R2D2, yellow circles for C3PO eyes, black circles for Chewbacca's eyes and R2D2 detail, white sprinkle for Chewbacca's mouth, yellow m and m for C3PO center
  • Black edible food writer
Directions:
  1. Melt vanilla chips/candy melts in microwave safe bowl.  Add a small dab to end of pop stick and insert into bottom of bunny. Let harden for 5 minutes.
  2. Dip entire bunny in white candy.  Tap off excess and let candy harden (15 minutes).
  3. Once bunnies are dry, spray one bunny with pearl color mist and one with gold color mist.
  4. Use other candy melts to add rest of detail (add 1/2 cup at a time to quart sized freezer bag, microwave in 15 second intervals until just melted, snip a corner of bag and "pipe" the candy onto bunnies). Use photos as guide.
  5. Use edible food writer to add smaller details.

Minecraft Creeper Cake and Character Peeps Pops

Is Minecraft still a favorite game of your older kiddos?? It still seems the soup de jour for my 10 year old.  Last year I did a Minecraft Cake and Rice Krispie Treats and Minecraft was requested again this year as a birthday cake.   And because I can't resist a good mash-up, I threw in some Minecraft characters in Marshmallow Peeps form!

For the Peeps pops, coat bunny Peeps in some white chocolate or vanilla candy melt.  Once hardened add the color with some food gels in various colors.  I add a little gel to an art tray (only used for food).  To make "paint" add about 1/2 teaspoons of flavoring extract.  I used lemon extract.

Then just paint on the colors to make the characters.  Minecraft characters are easy because they look pixelated so you don't even need to be an artist, just color in blocks!

Once you have the base colors on, you can add any accents (like eyes) with candy melt.

The Creeper cake is really easy.  Just bake up a square cake in your favorite flavor.  Add a crumb coat and using a ruler make even squares across the cake.  I used a knife to draw on squares (well as even as I could get them.)

Tint icing in varying shades of green, and just fill in the squares.  You can google a Creeper face to see where to add the colors.  Use black icing to do the features of the face (eyes and mouth, well I think they are eyes and a mouth!).  It really was very quick to put this together.  Buy black icing though, it's so hard to tint icing a deep black!

And there you go, a pretty simple Creeper cake and some Peeps Pops for your biggest Minecraft gamer.

What games are your kiddos into? We're always trying to find neat ones that also teach a little.  Minecraft is pretty cool as they do create some really interesting structures in the world.  A little bit like a 3D lego creation, but all pixelated.

Here is last year's Minecraft Cake.  Which is your fav?

I'm adding these to my Peeps Treats collection.  I've done a ton of these in the past and they are always lots of fun!

mickey and minnie dipped peeps pops....!

So if you haven't guessed by the pic above, we went to Disney! It was the first time ever for any of us, can you believe that?

I saw these Mickey Mouse Peeps (who knew they made Mickey Peeps???!) back around Christmas time and scooped some up since I knew we had the Disney World Trip planned for this February.  And what better way to tell the kids we were going to there? Yep Mickey and Minnie Mouse Peeps Pops!

Add a little melted candy melt or chocolate to a pop stick and insert into marshmallow.  Let harden.

Dip the marshmallow ears into melted black candy melt.  Michaels is selling the black Wilton's candy melt year round now but you could use chocolate or other candy melt colors would be fun too.

Minnie's red bow is just more red candy melt and before totally hardened, add some white non-pareil sprinkles.  Attach to pop with more candy melt.

And you get some pretty simple Mickey and Minnie ear PEEPS Pops! We told the kids the day we left for the airport with these pops.  So fun!

And in case you are interested in our Disney trip, here are some of my instagram shots from the week!

We definitely had a great time and there is still plenty to do if we go back.  Disney does it well too, the new Fantasyland is really neat and my little girly girl was able to play a part in the Enchanted Tales with Belle character experience, so that was really cool.  Oh and the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom is intense, my boys are still recovering from it!  Anyway, a great time had by all at the happiest (and most expensive!) place on earth!
