Star Wars Ahsoka Tano cookies, Hera Syndulla cookies, Princess Leia cookies, Baby Yoda cookies & Loth-cat Cookies

Ahsoka Tano cookies, Hera Syndulla cookies, Princess Leia cookies, Baby Yoda cookies Loth-cat Cookies

It's one of my favorite days - May the 4th Be With You (aka May 4th aka Star Wars Day!)'

To celebrate I made some of my favorite characters in sugar cookie form.

Since the movies are done (well for now) I'm catching up on some of the cartoon series.  They have some great characters too like Hera Syndulla from Star Wars Rebels and Ahsoka Tano from Star Wars Clone Wars (and Rebels).  Princess Leia is an all-time fav so I had to include her.

And Loth-cats.  What's a Loth-cat you ask? They are super cute critters from Star Wars Rebels!  Aren't they adorbs?

Really easy to make too! So made a whole gang of them.

Loth cat cookies

To make all of the cookies I started with a really easy no spread cookie dough recipe.  I use this recipe from In Katrina's Kitchen.  I used it for another version of Baby Yoda cookies and it worked great.

Once the cookie dough is mixed tint with natural food colors and/or a tiny bit of food color gels to get the right colors.

The green is matcha powder, orange is tumeric (and tiny bit of orange food gel), brown is cocoa powder, and yellow is tumeric too.

This dough holds it shape really well.  I use it like clay to freehand the characters.  Below is pre-bake.  Add some detail like the Loth-cat mouth before baking.

Bake only for about 10 minutes and keep checking to make sure they don't brown too much.  Post-bake below.

Princess Leia & her iconic buns!

You can never have enough Baby Yoda

Ahsoka Tano is one of my newest favs on the shows.

Also Just Jenn Recipes has tons of great ideas as well - thanks for so much inspiration!

Hera Syndulla is another great female character plus she's a Twi'lek!

I love the animals and creatures of Star Wars so much and the Loth-cats are no exception.  I love their colors and pointy ears.  The white Loth cat has some specialness in Star Wars Rebels so included it here too.

You get a pretty neat looking mix of sugar cookies from across the Star Wars universe.

Other Star Wars Treats you may like below.

Star Wars Character (Princess Leia, Ahsoka Tano, Hera Syndulla, Baby Yoda and Loth-cat) Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 batch of no spread cookie dough
  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder for brown
  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder for green
  • 2 teaspoons turmeric for yellow
  • 2 teaspoons of turmeric (plus 1 drop orange food gel) for orange
  • Blue food gel (for Ahsoka detail)
  • 1 black food marker
  • Pink and white candy melt / wafers (for baby yoda, Ahsoka, and Hera detail)
  • Heart shaped sprinkles for mouths
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Divide cookie dough into 5 pieces (depending on which characters you are doing)
  3. Tint each with colors as above in ingredients
  4. Free hand roll out characters (as in photos).  I use the cookie dough like clay or play doh and it works great.  Mix colors as needed to give marble effect for Loth-cats.
  5. For Loth-cat add mouth with knife before baking.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes or just baked.  Watch closely so the cookies don't brown too much.
  7. Once cooled, paint on blue detail for Ahsoka's hair.  Use melted pink candy wafer to add detail for baby Yoda's ears and for Ahsoka and Hera's detail.
  8. Use candy melt to attach heart sprinkles for Leia, Ahsoka, and Hera's mouth.
  9. Use black food marker to add eyes and Loth-cat detail.
Prep time: 90 minutes for about 2-3 dozen cookies

Star Wars Marshmallows for May the Fourth be with You

So this week it's every Star Wars fan's favorite day - Star Wars Day or May the Fourth be With You!

Well actually our favorite day is whenever the next Star Wars movie comes out - but May the Fourth be With You aka May 4th comes in a close 2nd.  Fans across the world (and galaxy) wish each other a happy one across the interwebs.  Hopefully it's pretty self explanatory of why it's Star Wars day - but just in case, it's a play on words for May the Force be With You.  Get it??!

Anywho, for this Star Wars Day I made some marshmallows.  Star Wars themed marshmallows.  But I'm playing my Woman Card (thanks Donald Trump!) and only making the women of Star Wars.

The ladies of Star Wars in marshmallow form!

I actually did Princess Leia marshmallows before when I did a countdown to the new movie last year.  I loved how they came out so much that I needed to do the other ladies of the movies.  There are just some really cool female characters from Jedi to slaves to bounty hunters to princesses and more.

You can see all of the 12 days of Star Wars here!

Start by dip dyeing marshmallows.  The Decorated Cookie has shared how to do this fun technique a few times.  The colors are very subtle but very light and pretty.

I did these in steps.  Dye the marshmallows and let them dry then cut out more marshmallow as detail or use items like mini heart sprinkles for the lips.  Jelly beans cut in half made great eyes for Asajj Ventress or goggles for Rey.  Leia's iconic hair is made from a Hershey's Kiss with the tips cut off.  Melted candy wafers were used to add other detail.

An edible food writer was used to add black dots for eyes.

I tried to make most of the more recognizable female characters either from the movies or other media.

Plop them in a bowl and enjoy on Star Wars Day - or any day for that matter!

Or you can wrap them up as gifts for your fav Star Wars fans and if you did you'd be the bestest friend eva.  Seriously you would.

And an early May the Fourth be With You! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Star Wars Creature Cupcakes - May the 4th Be With You!

Happy Star Wars Day! May the 4th Be With You.

I've done a bunch of Star Wars posts over the years but this one has to be one of my favs.  The creatures in the Star Wars movies are always so cool and really make the movies so special.  (I don't even mind Jar Jar Binks so much - I know sorry hard core SW fans!)

I made a bunch of my favorite creatures in edible form for you and in celebration of all that is Star Wars today.  Most of them are made starting with some Ghost Marshmallow Peeps that I found frozen in our freezer.  Most all of the detail is made with melted candy melts in various colors, some pretzel sticks, and various sprinkles.

Hopefully the Star Wars fans can identify at least a few of these.  Below (clockwise) a Bantha, Acklay, Jawa, Rancor, and Sarlacc.

A couple of Mynocks:

A Taun Taun and the Wampa

This is the 3rd wampa I've done!
And better pics of the Mynocks and the Sarlacc pit

A happy Star Wars creature reunion photo!

Can't wait to see all the new creatures in Star Wars VII coming out this December.  What's your favorite in all the movies?

You may also like some of the other Star Wars treats I've made over the years.  See the Star Wars category on the right hand side of the blog for all the links.  The Yoda Bundt Cake is my 2nd fav!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Star Wars Day!

Oh and if you'd like the directions on how to make any of these, please just send me an email.  Some are easier than others and use melted candy wafers on top of marshmallow Peeps as the base.

Star Wars Treats Round Up!

So guess what day it almost is??? May the 4th Be With You or as all Star Wars fans know Star Wars Day!  I'm trying to get my act together for a new post to celebrate, but in the meantime here are some of my favorite Star Wars inspired sweets.

One of the most viewed posts I have to date, a fun mash-up of PEEPS and Star Wars aka PEEPS Trooper Pops.  These are not the PEEPS you are looking for.  Find the post here.

Wampa's anyone?? And instead of them eating you, you can eat them (in cupcake form of course!).  Find them here.

And I love how Star Wars just keeps going and going and going. They've even inspired the Origami Yoda book series (which my kid LOVES!).  Find some Origami Yoda candy pops here.

To celebrate my oldest's birthday one year we did a bunch of Star Wars character cupcakes (General Ackbar is my fav, but Lando is a close second!).  Find them here (including how to's) as well as more on the Star Wars party here.

One year we also did some gingerbread Star Wars characters! Find them here.

I have to say my kids really liked the Star Wars dudes in traditional gingerbread man form better than the real characters!

And of course my biggest kid really started the love of Star Wars around here, so he got some simple lightsaber cupcakes one year.  Find them here.

Are you celebrating May the 4th Be With You?!! I hope so.  My kids love the movies, cartoon series, books, all the stuff, it's never ending! They even made some pics so we can put them up tomorrow.  We have the Star Wars Thumb Doodles book and have been hard at work creating their master pieces! (PS I highly recommend this if you have some Star Wars freaks fans around your house!
